It has been just a few days that the world came across the Samsung Galaxy S8. And already there are discussions going on around in the market regarding how things are going to shape up when Samsung Galaxy S9 is going to be released. And lately, we have received the update that the next-generation flagship smartphone is going to come out with two different chipsets under the hood.
Samsung Galaxy S8 came out on the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood. Another variant of the smartphone is available on the market which has got the Samsung Exynos 8890 processor. And reports have come in that the Samsung Galaxy S9 is also going to be available on the market in two variants.
One of the two variants will have the Qualcomm processor which will be developed on the 7nm process. However, Samsung will have to buy these chipsets from TSMC who currently holds the right to manufacture these. So reduce the expense the South Korean brand will be producing their own chipsets in the 8 nm process.
Definitely, questions are going to arise surrounding the fact that why Samsung is going to use the Exynos 8nm chipset instead of the 7 nm ones. It is believed that Samsung is yet to prepare these chipsets which make it a bit troubling for them to use these particular chipsets in the upcoming flagship which will definitely be put under development very shortly. So despite having better efficiency and power-saving capabilities, Samsung is going to use the Exynos processor instead of the ones produced by Qualcomm.
In fact, it has been reported that one of the insiders has revealed such a strategy of Samsung recently. The unknown industry source has been quoted saying, “Even though its chip-making unit lost orders from Qualcomm, Samsung’s mobile business unit is likely to use the seven-nanometer chip produced by TSMC considering its energy efficiency and performance.”
However, there is still a lot of time to go before we can get an idea of how things are going to shape up when eventually the smartphone hits the market. Previously we have come across the reports that Samsung Galaxy S9 is going to hit the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset as well as the Exynos 9810 processor. Hence, the latest report has certainly provided some real boost to all these possibilities.
