Moto X4 In The Running To Become The First Non-Google Phone To Get Project Fi

Looks like American multinational telecommunication company Motorola is going big with its upcoming flagship smartphone Moto X4, as it is in the running to possibly become the first ever non-Google smartphone to get Project Fi. So far, it has only been seen in Google’s own Pixel and Nexus devices. But things might just as well not remain the same.

Moto X4 is speculated to come out in the fourth quarter of 2017.

The Google-owned Project Fi is a mobile virtual network company, which was established in 2015. It is a great carrier as it charges $10 per GB used and $20/month for the base service. However, it can be activated on Google’s own smartphones only. But Project Fi has now announced through Twitter that a new device “from a partner” is on the cards. Since this hints at a device which is going to be launched later this year, VentureBeat has speculated that the device is none other than Moto X4, which might get released in Q4 2017.

Project Fi has been a hit with both users and critics alike, with it getting praise for being easy to use and for it having the disruptive ability to use multiple cellular networks and WiFi at low cost. Two features, a family plan and an LTE service for voice calls, which were missing from the start, is also now being tested by it.

Moto X4 is being tipped to be a high-end mid-range smartphone which will be powered by Snapdragon 660 processor and will be backed by a 3,800mAh battery. Speaking of its storage facility, it will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It will also feature a fingerprint reader. Having a 5.5-inch display, it will also have a dual-lens camera set up as part of its primary camera.
