The Xiaomi Mi 5X may have been spotted on FCC days ahead of its launch. We had earlier informed you that the new device was set for a July 26 launch with a dual rear camera setup and MIUI 9. Previous leaks have indicated that the new device may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC among other features. It now seems that the crucial FCC approval has been granted to the Xiaomi Mi 5X, although the listing does not mention the device’s name. It only shows a Xiaomi device with the model number MDG2.
This report by GizmoChina shows that the new Xiaomi device has a 3,000 mAh battery. However, previous leaks and speculation had alleged that the Xiaomi Mi 5X would probably carry a 3,680mAh battery. Now, we believe that the new device will ship with the 3,000mAh Li-Po battery, rechargeable using a USB Type-C equipped with a 10W adapter (5V/2A).
Since the Xiaomi Mi 5X is the only expected device from the house of Xiaomi on the horizon, it can be assumed that the device spotted on FCC is indeed the Mi 5X. However, the FCC document does not show off any other specs of the device.
The new Xiaomi Mi 5X is the third device from Xiaomi to feature the dual rear camera design. The previous two were the Xiaomi Redmi Pro from last year, which was the first Xiaomi smartphone to have the dual rear camera design. The second one was the Xiaomi Mi 6, which released this year.
We do know that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, a departure from many devices launching this year. Even the Xiaomi Mi 6 does not have the 3.5mm jack. Other features of the Xiaomi Mi 5X are expected to be a 5.5-inch FHD display, and 4 GB RAM coupled with 64 GB of native storage. The new device will be priced at 1,999 Yuan, roughly equivalent to $295. Available colors will include Rose Gold, Gold, and Black.
