Huawei is a company which has never failed to mystify us with its product launches. The same cannot be said for all companies, incidentally. Now, the specs, features, and some pictures of the soon-to-be-released Huawei Nova 2s have been revealed, or rather, leaked. They have shown off a device which has 6GB of RAM and a full-screen design, in sync with current design philosophies. The Nova 2s is expected to follow the long list of the Nova 2 series, including the Nova 2i.
A Chinese publication, which you can access here, has shown off some photos of the new device. One of the first things that struck us was how eerily similar the design was to the Honor V10. It has the same full-screen design and the bottom, side, and top bezels have all been reduced significantly. The top bezel, in fact, actually appears to be capable of hosting two selfie cameras, which is once again consistent with what many mobile device manufacturers do nowadays.
On the rear of the device is another pair of cameras which are accompanied by a handy flashlight. While the flashlight thing is handy, we did not like the fact that the camera sensors are located side by side and are placed separately.
Some other details of the Huawei Nova 2s are also rather comforting. It has a 6-inch display, which is made even more valuable thanks to the addition of the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC, which was the flagship chipset from the company last year. This chipset will work in association with 6GB of RAM.
The rear dual camera setup apparently appears like a combination of one 20MP sensor and another 16MP sensor. In one aspect, both the cameras are identical: they share a common aperture size of f/1.8. As far as the front cameras are concerned, Huawei has gone along with two 20MP sensors.
Some other features that we liked are the Android Oreo-based proprietary EMUI 8.0 UI, as well as facial recognition. For contactless payment, we have NFC.
