Asus ZenFone 5 Lite Certified in Russia, May Have 6-inch Screen and Snapdragon Chipset

The new Asus Zenfone V is a Verizon exclusive product

Asus, which is a major manufacturer of smartphones, had, the reader will remember, delayed the launch of the Asus ZenFone 4 last year by several months. The prices of the Asus ZenFone 4 series were only made public in August of 2017. Now, it seems that the company is gearing up to launch the Asus ZenFone 5 in a low-end variant. This will probably be called the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite and has recently been certified in Russia.

The news comes even as the ASUS CEO Jerry Shen had, in September last year, confirmed the fact that the Asus ZenFone 5 series smartphones would probably be unveiled soon, perhaps as early as March 2018. Now that one model of the ZenFone 5 has been released, it seems that the floodgates will soon open.

There is still an air of mystery surrounding the new phone. However, the certification of the smartphone does reveal some newer details. For example, we now know that the new Asus ZenFone 5 Lite may have a model number of ZC600KL where the initials “KL” confirms the fact that it will probably have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It also indicates that the device will carry support for LTE connectivity.

The Russian publication, which you can access here, also claims that the number “60” seen in the model number indicates that we may well be looking at a 6-inch display. As of now, we can neither confirm nor deny whether the device will sport an aspect ratio of 18:9. We hope that this will be the case.

Asus, which is a Taiwanese tech company, may, according to several complimentary reports, be unveiling the ZenFone 5 lineup at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) tech exhibition come February. We also have reason to believe that the company may hold its own dedicated launch event which will then unveil the new ZenFone 5 lineup of smartphones. Stay tuned to us for more.
