LG G6 Soon to Receive Android 8.0 Oreo Updates, Possibly in First Half of 2018

If there is one great thing about LG, the South Korean giant, it is that it provides regular updates to its devices as promised to its users. Last year in April, the company had launched the LG G6 in India which was widely accepted and was also quite successful against the likes of the Sony XZ Premium. Now, we are getting reports that the LG G6 will soon be upgraded to the Android 8.0 Oreo, possibly within the first half of the year.

Incidentally, the new-age LG V30 and the LG V30 Plus have already started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo updates. It seems that it is now the turn of LG G6 which was the flagship phone of the ‘G’ series. The fact that the LG G6 will get the Android 8.0 update was first spotted on Reddit, as spotted here. At first, it was predicted that the update would be rolled out in February. However, it now seems that the update would be rolled out possibly in April or May, or perhaps even later.

Once the update is taken into account, the smartphone will get the picture-in-picture mode which lets users manage two tasks simultaneously. One can now minimize a YouTube video while, at the same time, also send a text message or even write an email. Other features include certain Background limits, the installation of apps via APK files, over 60 new and different emojis, notification dots and Wide-gamut color for many apps, Adaptive icons, and Keyboard navigation, besides WebView enhancements.

The new LG G6 features a great 5.7-inch 18:9 QHD+ FullVision display that boasts a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. Onboard is a slightly dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor which has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and also either 32GB/64GB of internal or storage. These are also expandable via a MicroS card to 2TB via MicroSD card. It originally ran on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and boasts a 3,300mAh battery which is embedded. This battery also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
