New HTC Device with Android 8.0 Oreo and 3GB RAM Spotted on GeekBench

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is reported to be working on a new smartphone that may be powered by Snapdragon 625 processor. The name of the new device has not been revealed yet but the device has been spotted on GeekBench revealing the complete specifications. The device appears to be a mid-range smartphone with model number 2Q5W1. The leak was first spotted by renowned leakster Ronald Quandt.

As per the listing on GeekBench, the device may be powered by Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 1,8 GHz and 3GB of RAM. This is not a very high powered processor so we are expecting this device to be a mid-range smartphone. The phone recorded a score of 776 during the single core test and a score of 3911 in the multi-core test. Apart from all these, nothing else has been revealed by the GeekBench listing. But we expect the smartphone to run on the latest Android Oreo 8.0 version.

As per previous reports, HTC may announce a number of new smartphones, alongside its flagship devices at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), to be held in Barcelona from February 25 to March 1. However, a new report by Android Headlines has claimed that HTC may hold a separate event like HMD Global to launch its latest flagship device, which is expected to be named the U12. Apparently, HTC wants to avoid launching their new phone with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which would be launched on February 25, just before the official start of the MWC event.

We also like to inform you that HTC has started rolling out the Android 8.0 update for its flagship device U11 from January 31 this year. Users may check for the latest update by diving in to Settings > About Phone. The new update will bring a host of new features like picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, Wi-Fi improvements, passwords autofill and better storage management.
