After the disruptive entry of Reliance Jio in the Indian telecom segment, more and more operators are now coming out with their own offers which promise more data and more calling facilities. Vodafone is clearly no exception to this rising tide, as has been evidenced in the past few months. It Rs 199 plan was a pretty popular one. Now, a new plan worth Rs 158 has been introduced and is one which, the company hopes, will steadily increase its fortunes.
This new plan worth Rs 158 per month is open only to the prepaid customers for now. Also, the telecom operator is offering an unlimited number and volume of voice calls. These free voice calls are applicable to all sorts of calls, be they local, STD or even roaming calls. The users and the subscribers will also receive 1GB of data per day for all the 28 days, which is the plan’s total validity. Note that there is a caveat on the free unlimited voice calls plan: there is a FUP or Fair Usage Policy of 250 minutes per day as well as 1000 minutes every week.
Once these limits are exhausted, the users will have to pay extra for any additional usage. This is the same policy that is also followed by the other major telecom operators as well. This new plan is believed to be in direct response to the Rs 149 plan by Airtel that also has a validity of 28 days. This similar Airtel plan also offers 1GB of data every day besides unlimited voice calls. Besides these features, the Airtel plan boasts free 100 SMS every single day. This same idea has apparently been implemented by Vodafone now. Even Idea Cellular, which is a rival group owned by the Aditya Birla Group, has a similarly-priced plan at Rs. 158. Lastly, Vodafone has also introduced a Rs 151 plan for its prepaid users.
