Japanese tech giant Casio has launched a new limited-edition smartwatch dubbed as Casio WSD F20-SC. It is an upgrade to the Casio WSD F20S that was launched at CES 2017. The newly launched device is a limited edition watch and the company has confirmed that only 700 units of the watch will be made available for purchase throughout the world. It will be available in the market from June 2018 onwards. Apart from the watch, the box will also include accessories like an AC adapter and a charger cable.
Coming to the specifications of the smartwatch, the Casio WSD F20-SC runs on Android Wear 2.0 which is also known as Wear OS out of the box. It sports a 1.32-inch TFT LCD and a monochrome LCD double layer display screen with a resolution of 320 X 300 pixels. Connectivity options on the new smartwatch include Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi 802.11b/g/n, GLONASS, and GPS. Apart from that, it also comes with multiple sensors like gyroscope, accelerometer, pressure sensor and a compass. It also comes with MIL-STD 810G rating and can withstand water up to a depth of 50 meters. The smartwatch is compatible with Android smartphones running on Android 4.3 or higher versions and also iPhones running on iOS 9 or higher.
The band of the Casio WSD F20-SC is made up of metal reinforced urethane H-links that is light in weight but is very durable. The buttons on the side of the device are ion-plated and IP treated to provide resistance from wear up to a certain extent. The top cover glass of the smartwatch is made up of sapphire crystals, while the back cover is made up of premium quality stainless steel that is both robust and durable.
To recall, the Casio WSD F20S was launched at CES last year at a price of $500. It was part of Casio’s Protrek lineup of smartwatches. Regarding the price of the new device, nothing has been revealed so far by the company, but we are expecting a word from Casio very soon.
