FaceBook Currently Testing new Voice Clip Status Update Feature for Indian Users

Facebook, which has over 2.2 billion active users is currently testing a new voice clip status update feature with some Indian users. This new feature will enable users to put up their own voice clips as status updates on their activity feed.

The voice clip status update feature will be a more intimate engaging option for a user than a regular text status or video upload. While talking to TechCrunch, a Facebook representative said “We are always working to help people share and connect with their friends and family on Facebook in ways that are authentic to them. Voice Clips gives people a new medium through which to express themselves.”

Facebook has been trying to add some unique features to its platform to make it more interesting and engaging to the users. Over these years, Facebook has managed to add some great features like video upload, video calling option through messenger and Facebook Live among others.

In order to access this new voice clip feature, users need to select “add voice clip” from the various status features available right now like video upload, location check-in and more. After selecting the voice clip option, users will be able to see a graphical representation or a waveform that will vary according to the voice pitch of a user. A user can talk for as long as he wants and there is no limitation on the length of the clip in terms of time right now.

Facebook has also revealed that users can also preview the voice clip that they have recorded before sharing it with their friends. However, there is no edit option for the voice clip right now and one will have to delete the clip and record it again in case he does not like it. Also, users cannot listen to the clip after minimizing the app on their smartphones for doing something else.

Facebook is also reportedly working on a smart speaker codenamed “Aloha” which can be connected to a smartphone wirelessly to work on a user’s voice commands. It can stream music, make calls, read news, order food and much more on your behalf with a simple voice command.
