We all know that the deep web is a part of internet that most of the people are not aware of. It is the 95% of the internet which is still unexplored by 90 percent of the internet users of the world. The people who explore it are either using it for the research purposes or are trying to order something that cannot be ordered legally. A man fall as a culprit and was arrested by the Romanian cops after ordering drugs from the dark web marketplace.
What is the complete matter?
After collecting some evidence throughout the year 2017 and 2018, the Romanian law enforcement found an Arad county man guilty of ordering the drugs from a darknet vendor on a regular basis. The charges imposed on him are explained as importation of high-risk drugs, transport of high-risk drugs, without any rights and in a continuous manner.
The DIOCT (Arad Territorial Office of Direction for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism) ordered the arrest of the suspect on the basis of the DIICOT press release which it called as a ‘reasonable suspicion’. It means that the suspect has committed the drug importation crimes which have placed him under the investigation. The Arad Court authorized a 30-day detention period on 17th March while the officials decided how to proceed.
How the case came into picture?
The case is the Arad Organized Crime Service and DIOCT case. It would not have existed for the German authorities. The Customs Officers at the Frankfurt Airport initiated this investigation in the month of May, 2017. They had a complete view that the dark web drug trafficking has come into the picture. The Frankfurt Airport Customs Officers have received the credit for their involvement in the case after an overwhelming number of cases in and around Germany.
The Frankfurt Airport Customs Officers intercepted the package of about 110 grams of the amphetamine which was shipped to the address in Romania. The Customs Officers seized the package which contained the amphetamine on 17th May, 2017. The German authorities presumably relayed the information to the police in Arad. The package has been originated in Germany.
It again happened in the month of June. Again a packet of 50grams of amphetamine was intercepted by the Frankfurt Customs officers as it was heading towards Romania. This packet was seized on June 12. This package also came from a German address, just like the first package.
Again, the month of July proved to be more eventful as the Frankfurt Airport authorities intercepted the package containing 202 ecstasy pills. This package also came from Germany and was heading to Romania. It happened on 25th July 2017. And three day later, the Frankfurt Airport Customs Officers intercepted another packet containing 100 grams of amphetamine that was hading from a German address to Romania.
So, one could have easily assumed that how the person was caught by the brain of the Frankfurt Airport Customs Officers who initiated this case and helped Arad authorities to deal with it.
The Lesson Learnt
The buyer and the vendor might have learned the lesson as Frankfurt Airport Customs have not intercepted any more packages from Germany to the Romanian address. The buyer might have swapped the German vendor.
So, on 16th March 2018, the Romanian authorities arrested the suspect due to his foolishness. He attempted to pick up the package containing 50 grams of amphetamine. He is now held for 30 days and the legal proceedings are going on him.
