Airtel Launches New Prepaid Recharge pack of Rs 49 to Take on Reliance Jio

Airtel, the largest telecom operator in the country, has launched a new Rs 49 recharge pack for its prepaid customers. This new plan has been introduced reportedly to take on Reliance Jio’s Rs 52 prepaid pack. The new plan of Airtel will offer 3GB of data at 4G speeds with a validity of one day. It, however, does not offer unlimited calling facility or free SMS in the pack.

Reliance Jio’s Rs 52 pack, on the other hand, offers 1.05GB of data per day with a validity of 7 days to Jio Prime prepaid customers. Along with the data, it also offers unlimited calls to any network across the country with 70 SMS and a complimentary subscription to all Jio apps like Jio Cinema, Jio Music and more. Reliance Jio also has a Rs 49 pack of its own but it is exclusive to Jio Phone users only. In the pack, it offers 1GB of data for 28 days along with free voice calls to any network and 50 SMS.

Meanwhile, Airtel is also offering 30GB of free data to customers who upgrade to 4G for the first time from 3G or 2G. This scheme is available under its “Mera Pehla Smartphone” offer and offers 1GB of data per day with a validity period of 30 days to prepaid users. Postpaid users can also avail this offer with 30GB of additional data and a rollover facility for the first month.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are also offering limited period special offers for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2018 T20 cricket tournament. Airtel customers can stream all LIVE IPL matches and highlights for free via the Airtel TV app. They would need to have the latest version of the app to avail the service. Reliance Jio, on the other hand, had launched a Rs 251 Cricket pack that offers 2GB of high-speed 4G data per day over a period of 51 days. Both the telecom giants have collaborated with Hotstar to provide LIVE streaming of all IPL matches to its customers.
