Apple Watch Series 3 with two variants of GPS and Cellular which was launched last year alongside the Apple iPhone 8 will debut in India. India’s leading telecom operators Airtel and Reliance Jio have both partnered with Apple to launch the latest watch series in the country next month. Airtel and Reliance Jio have both announced yesterday that the cellular variant of the Apple Watch Series 3 will be available for preorders from May 4 onwards and will be available for purchase for the first time on May 11. Buyers can visit Reliance Digital stores, Jio stores or also order online on Jio.com and the official website of Airtel to get their hands on the wearable.

To recall, the GPS variant of the Apple Watch Series 3 have already been launched in the country last year. While the price details of the cellular variant are still unknown, the GPS variant of the Apple Watch Series 3 is currently available at a price of Rs 32,380 with a sports band while the Nike+ band variant costs Rs 32,470. The cellular variant has also been listed on the Apple India website but the price has not been revealed yet.

The GPS and Cellular variants of the Apple Watch 3 supports only an embedded SIM to offer connectivity. This means a user can retain the same number he/she uses on the iPhone and does not require a new number. The Apple Watch Series 3 supports iPhone 6 and higher models running on iOS 11 and higher.

Coming to offers of Reliance Jio and Airtel, Jio customers can prebook the Apple Watch Series 3 to get priority first day home delivery of the Apple watch along with Jio services. In addition, Jio will not charge anything over the existing prepaid pack or postpaid plan. The Apple watch Series 3 and the iPhone will work together on the same tariff plan without any extra expense.

Similarly, Airtel users can also pair the Apple watch with the existing Airtel number on their iPhone. They would manually need to configure the two devices by opening the Apple Watch app on their iPhone.  However, only Airtel postpaid customers will be able to use the wearable linked to their iPhone.
