It has been nearly 4 years since Orkut, the popular social networking platform owned by Google was shut now. It was founded by Orkut Buyukkokten who was a Google employee then. The social networking app has been designed to bring the current generation of smartphone users together through a common platform to create and engage in meaningful and positive conversations with other people.

Talking about the launch of the Hello app in India, Orkut Buyukkokten said “Today’s online networks force people to treat each other totally differently from how they would behave face-to-face. Technology should help us become more understanding, more optimistic, kinder and better people.”

He also added “We designed hello to help you make connections in the real world. It’s a social network built on loves not likes, and I’m delighted to say hello to India once again.”

Coming to the features of this new app, the founder said that it will help the users to connect with people around them seamlessly, whether they live miles away or in the locality. It has communities like Orkut where the people are free to join to engage in meaningful and positive conversations. People can also discover new friends by matching their personal choices and can also create and share their ideas on the platform.

The app has been designed to automatically change a user’s personal with the change of their interests. The Hello app is currently available on the Apple App store as well as Google Play store for free. It is to be noted that the platform does not have a web portal and can only be used through the app. The company also clarified that privacy and security of all the users is their main focus and it has no intentions of selling the user’s data to the third party for earning revenue.

To recall, Orkut was founded by  Orkut Buyukkokten and a bunch of other Google employees in 2004. It slowly became the most popular social networking platform but after the introduction of Facebook, Google decided to shut it down in 2014.
