Samsung has officially launched a burgundy red color variant of the Galaxy S8 in India, yesterday. The previous year’s flagship device is now available in five color variants of midnight black, coral blue, maple gold, orchid grey and burgundy red. We had reported only yesterday that Apple is due to launch a new limited edition red color variant of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus in the country. Now, Apple’s direct competitor Samsung has also launched a new color variant of the Galaxy S8 to take on the Cupertino based conglomerate.
The burgundy red color variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a price tag of Rs 49,900 and Samsung is also offering a cashback of Rs 10,000 on the device with a partnership with Paytm. The smartphone will be available for purchase from April 13, onwards.
To recall the specifications of the Galaxy S8, the Indian variant of the device is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8895 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The secondary memory can be further upgraded with the help of a micro-SD card. The phone runs on Android Nougat out of the box but is due to receive the latest Android 8.0 Oreo flavor soon. As for the display, it sports a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. It also comes with 2.5D curved glass feature with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top of it.
Coming to the camera department, the flagship device sports a 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture. It also features dual pixel technology with optical image stabilization. On the front, it features an 8-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture and autofocus. The smartphone is fueled by a 3000mAh battery that supports wireless charging and fast charging features.
Samsung also launched the successor of the Galaxy S8 last month. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ comes with a price tag of Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900 respectively for the 64GB models.
