BSNL Launches Rs 499 Postpaid Plan with 45GB Monthly Data to Take on Reliance Jio

The state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new Rs 499 postpaid plan to offer 45GB of monthly data to its customers and challenge Reliance Jio in the process. The new plan also includes unlimited voice calls to any network in India and has been designed to take on the Rs 509 plan of Reliance Jio that offers 60GB of data with a daily cap of 2GB.

As per a report by TelecomTalk, the Rs 499 plan of BSNL does not come with a rollover facility to carry forward the unused data in the next billing cycle. However, the new plan offers up to 45GB of data with a month-long validity period which is much more than similar plans offered by private operators like Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea. The BSNL plan also offers unlimited voice calling benefits without a monthly or daily FUP limit and 100 SMS messages per day.

A detail about the telecom circles where the plan has been launched has not been revealed by the company as of now. Customers intending to avail this plan can contact the customer care of BSNL to inquire about the availability of the plan.

To recall, BSNL also launched a Rs 98 pack under the ‘Data Tsunami’ offer to provide 1.5GB of data per day with a validity of 26 days. If compared with Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone, the data per GB cost of BSNL is only Rs 2.51 which is much cheaper. However, the Rs 98 plan from BSNL does not come with unlimited calling benefits along with free SMS messages unlike the offers from private operators.

Back in March, Airtel also launched a Rs 499 plan for its postpaid customers offering 40GB of 4G high-speed data per month along with unlimited voice calls to any network and 100 SMS messages per day.
