Nokia 7 Plus Gets Dual SIM 4G VoLTE Support as Promised Earlier

The Nokia 7 Plus was launched alongside the Nokia 6 (2018) in India last month. The phone did not support 4G VoLTE mode on its secondary SIM. HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia, however, promised that it would add 4G VoLTE support to the second SIM very soon via an OTA update. Now, the company seems to be delivering on its promise.

A new update called V2.2A is being rolled out over the air (OTA) with VoLTE support for the second SIM and some other features like better system stability and minor changes to the user interface. The Android Security patch of May 2018 is also included in the update.

However, the Face Unlock feature that was promised to be rolled out during the launch of the smartphone is missing in the update. However, we are expecting the feature to be rolled out in a subsequent update very soon. Users of the Nokia 7 Plus can check for the new update by diving to Settings> Software Update.  As per an image on FoneArena, the update comes with a size of 441 MB so it is recommended to download it via a secure WiFi connection to avoid failed download.

To recall the specifications of the Nokia & Plus, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage space. It features a 6-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is fueled by a massive 3,800 mAh battery that also supports fast charging. Along with dual SIM 4G VoLTE support, the phone also supports dual-band WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, and GPS. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo flavor.

Talking about the camera specifications, the Nokia 7 Plus comes with a dual rear camera module of 12-megapixel primary and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, the smartphone features a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling. Both the front and the rear cameras are equipped with Carl Zeiss lenses.
