HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia smartphones was expected to unveil the Nokia X5 smartphone on July 11 at an event at Beijing, China. However, the launch did not take place as the event got canceled at the last minute due to some issues with the venue. The company took to Weibo to apologize to its fans for the cancellation but it did not reveal a new date for the launch of the Nokia X5.
Now there are speculations about the new launch date of the Nokia X5 in China. A report by GizChina citing unknown sources has claimed that HMD Global may launch the Nokia X5 on July 17. However, as there is no confirmation of the same from the company and the revelation comes from unofficial sources, be can’t be sure about the authenticity of this news.
Coming to the price of the Nokia X5, it was leaked just a few hours ahead of the official launch scheduled on July 11. The Nokia X5 with 3GB RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage space is likely to be priced at 799 Yuan (Rs 8,200 approximately). Pricing details of the other variants of the device are not known at the present time.
Coming to the specifications, the Nokia X5 is going to be a mid-range offering from HMD Global that is likely to be called Nokia 5.1 Plus in countries other than China. It will feature a 5.86-inch full HD+ IPS display with an iPhone X-like notch on the top and 19;9 aspect ratio. It is likely to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek or Snapdragon SoC coupled with 3Gb/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage space. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery under the hood.
On the imaging front, it will feature a dual rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it will feature a 5-megapixel sensor that may be housed inside the notch.
