Android Pie will not Support Third Party Call Recording Apps

Google recently released the final stable version of Android 9 Pie for the users. The latest Android version brings a host of new and useful features for the users. However, now it appears that Google has also removed some features that were available in earlier versions of Android like Oreo and Nougat. One such feature is the call recording functionality.

As per reports, the latest version of Android will no longer support third-party call recording apps like Automatic Call Recorder app and call Recorder app. The reports come from the developers of these apps which state that call recording apps will no longer work on Android Pie due to some changes implemented by Google to restrict third-party apps.

However, the call recording feature is still available on Android Lollipop powered smartphones. Google has currently disabled the official call recoding API from Android Marshmallow and upwards. This makes it difficult for the third party app developers to implement this feature on smartphones running on Android Marshmallow and Nougat. With the latest development, it would be impossible to run third-party call recorder apps on smartphones running on Android Marshmallow and upwards.

Having said that, smartphone manufacturers would still be able to implement the call recording feature on their devices through their own means. It is still unknown as to why Google decided to block these third-party call recorder apps. The company is likely to issue a statement acknowledging the issue and stating the reason for blocking this feature.

The call recording feature was a very popular one for all Android users. This feature enabled the users to record fake and fraudulent calls for legal purposes. Users also used this feature to record bank or payment related calls to verify their claims in case of any fraud or malpractices. With this feature no longer available, Android users will have to depend on device manufacturers to implement this feature in their own unique way.
