Nokia 6.1 Plus Likely to Launch in India on August 21

Nokia 6.1 Plus, which is the global variant of the Nokia X6 that was launched in China in May, is expected to be unveiled in India on August 21. HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia smartphones have already started sending invites for a launch scheduled for August 21. While it is still not clear which handsets will be unveiled by the company on that day, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is expected to be one of them. The company also recently teased the smartphone which was launched first at Hong Kong with a price tag of HKD 2,288 (Rs 20,000 approximately).

Alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global may also unveil the Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 2.1 as the company usually launches more than one handset in a launch event. It may be recalled that a support page confirming the development of the global variant of the Nokia X6 had gone live in June, much before the Nokia 6.1 Plus was unveiled in Hong Kong.

Regarding the price of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global had set a price of HKD 2,288 (Rs 20,000 approximately) in Hong Kong. The Nokia X6 on the other hand costs CYN 1,299 (Rs 13,800 approximately) for the 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage variant costs CYN 1,499 (Rs 16,000 approximately) while the premium 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant costs CYN 1,699 (Rs 18,100 approximately).

To recall the specifications, in short, the Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch full HD+ display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. On the optics front, it sports a dual rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it features another 16-megapixel sensor for taking selfies.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus boasts 64GB of inbuilt storage space which is further upgradable with a micro-SD card up to a maximum of 400GB. In terms of connectivity, it features 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Powered by a 3,060mAh battery, the phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
