HMD Global, the license holder of Nokia smartphones has rolled out the Android P Developer Preview 5 aka Beta 4 update to the Nokia 7 Plus. Juho Sarvikas, CPO of HMD Global made the revelation and said that the beta update has been rolled out prior to the stable update to ensure that there are no glitches.
The new update brings a lot of improvements along with gesture controls to the Nokia 7 Plus. The size of the update is at 1.4GB and it includes the July Android Security patch as well. The development comes a day after Google rolled out the stable version of Android Pie for Pixel devices. Since the Nokia 7 Plus has received the latest beta update of Android P aka Pie, it can be expected that the device will soon receive the stable update as well.
To talk of the new features, the Android P Developer Preview 5 brings a new navigation system, a new settings menu, and a new notification panel. It also brings adaptive battery power settings, adaptive brightness, and app actions as well.
In order to receive the latest update, you need to register on the Nokia developer website first. After the registration is completed, you can either wait for the OTA update or sideload it manually by flashing the ROM onto your device. However, before proceeding with the update, it is recommended that you have at least 50% battery power left on the device and you should also download the update using a reliable data or WiFi connection to avoid errors.
HMD Global has also provided images of the update on the official website. In order to install the update using image files, you need to register on the Nokia developer website first and then wipe out all the data from your device. You can then download the relevant ROM files, reboot your device to recovery mode, hit factory reset and finally sideload the ROM files using ADB.
