Samsung Teases Galaxy A8 Star Launch in India; Likely to Cost Rs 30,000

Samsung has started to tease the launch of a new smartphone in India. The teaser images available on Amazon India indicate that the South Korean tech giant is likely to launch the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star or the Galaxy A9 Star in the country soon and it is expected to cost around Rs 30,000.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star which was launched in China earlier comes with top-notch features similar to the flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 launched at the MWC 2018. Due to the similarities in the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star is also dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini.

Talking about the design elements of the upcoming smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star has a premium design with an all-glass build along with a metallic mid-frame. The device features a premium design but does not look similar to the Samsung Galaxy S series or Note series of devices from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star or Galaxy A8 Star (whatever it is called) is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage space which is further upgradable with a micro-SD card up to a maximum of 512GB. It is fueled by a 3,700mAh battery that supports fast charging via a USB Type-C charging port.

On the optics front, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is equipped with dual rear cameras with a 24-megapixel primary and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor. Both the cameras feature f/1.7 aperture. The cameras are capable of recording videos at 4K resolution and are also equipped with advanced features like bokeh mode, slow-motion video recording and more. On the front, the smartphone features a 24-megapixel sensor for taking selfies and can record videos at 1080p resolution and 30fps.

The device sports 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and is protected on the top by 2.5D curved tempered glass. The display features very narrow bezels on the sides and offers FHD resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is expected to hit the Indian markets by the end of August and is likely to cost Rs 34,999.
