The Nokia 6.1 Plus is the global variant of the Nokia X6 that was launched in China back in May. The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in India last month and went on sale for the first time in the country on August 30. Notably, the global variant was first launched in Hong Kong a couple of months back. Now, the users of the Nokia 6.1 Plus have started reporting a missing feature after the August Security Update. As per the users, the “Hide Notch” feature has reportedly gone missing after the August Security update and they can no longer access it.
Users of the latest flagship device from HMD Global have taken to Twitter to complain about the missing feature. Notably, the Nokia 6.1 Plus had the option to view the status bar in the default mode also known as the notch mode or hide the notch with a black strip that served as the no-notch mode. The battery level indicator, WiFi, and other alerts would still remain on the black strip but the jarring notch would be hidden. Many users found this mode to be useful and now they are unhappy that this option is no longer available after the August update.
HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia devices is yet to acknowledge this issue and is likely to release a statement in this regard soon. We assume that the option to hide the notch has gone missing due to a glitch in the update and the company should roll out a fix in the form of another update to rectify this issue.
Notably, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is scheduled to go on sale in India again on September 6. It currently carries a price tag of Rs 15,999 and is available in three color options of Gloss White, Gloss Black, and Gloss Midnight Blue. It will be available for purchase via e-commerce site Flipkart and the official Nokia online store.
