Apple has released iOS 12.0.1 update that comes with a slew of bug fixes primarily for the Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max including a fix for the Lightning Cable charging issue. Notably, some users of the iPhone XS had earlier reported that their devices were not charging immediately after the lighting cable was connected to it. They had to manually wake up the screen to start the charging process. With the new update, Apple had reportedly fixed this issue. Apart from this major fix, the update also includes fixes for some Wi-Fi issues and bugs. The update is now available for download and comes with a size of 86MB. Users can manually install the update by heading to Settings> General> Software Update.
The changelog for iOS 12.0.1 update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch models details a fix for the Lightning Cable charging issue along with another fix for an issue that caused some iPhone XS models to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4GHZ (single-band) instead of 5GHz (dual-band). The update also restores the original position of the “.?123” key on the iPad keyboard, fixes an issue with the Bluetooth that became unavailable in certain areas and a fix for video players, where subtitles were not available sometimes.
As per the complete list of fixes specified on the changelog, this update seems to be a minor one. However, it brings respite to the users of the iPhone XS who were having issues with the Lightning Charging cable. Notably, this is also the first major update since the stable version of Apple iOS 12 was released last month.
Apple had earlier released the iOS 12.1 public beta update that brought a host of new functionalities like Group FaceTime feature with support for up to 32 users in a single call, support for clickable thumbsticks on MFi gamepads and more. Apple is likely to release all these features in a stable update in the coming days for a wider audience.
