Crackdown 3 had received a new multiplayer mode called Wrecking Zone. At the X018, the exclusive Xbox event, Microsoft took some time off from the main programme to show off the new multiplayer mode of Crackdown 3. The Wrecking Zone mode takes place inside a custom destructible arena and lets you create havoc.
Developed as a training exercise for Agents, Wrecking Zone pits two teams consisting of five members each against each other. An extended gameplay demonstration by Microsoft at the X018 event showed that the players can break through walls and tear apart the floor beneath to create a sense of panic or havoc. The demonstration by Microsoft also showed two maps called Blackout Zone and Nova Station along with two modes called Territories and Agent Station. The multiplayer mode has been co-developed by Sumo Digital, Elbow Rocket, and Certain Affinity.
Crackdown 3 is officially slated to release on February 15, 2019, as announced by Microsoft at the event. The release date has been announced after a series of delays that were reportedly caused by some bugs. Being a first party game, it will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on the day of the launch. Apart from that, it is a play anywhere game so the users can play it on PC and Xbox by purchasing any one version of the game.
Crackdown 3 retains nearly all the aspects of its predecessors featuring a number of different organizations to control the city. The players will have to wrest control of the city from these organizations by killing their bosses or kingpins, destroying their facilities and destabilizing the infrastructure. The players can use a variety of weapons to achieve their goals like grenades, guns and rocket launchers.
As a part of the promotion of Crackdown 3, Microsoft is also giving away the original 2007 Crackdown as a backward compatible download option and it will be available from November 30 onwards.
