To compete with Reliance Jio and Airtel, Idea Cellular has launched a new plan for its prepaid users to provide both data and unlimited voice calling benefits. This plan is similar to the Vodafone Rs 159 prepaid plan launched earlier and will offer 1GB of data per day along with unlimited voice calling. This plan competes with the Rs 149 prepaid plan of Reliance Jio that offers 1.5GB of data per day along with unlimited calling benefits with a validity of 28 days.
The Idea plan of Rs 159 offers 1GB of data per day in addition to 100SMS messages and unlimited voice calling benefits for 28 days. However, there is a FUP limit on voice calls with a maximum of 250 minutes per day and a maximum of 1000 minutes per week. The data offered in the plan also has a FUP limit of 1GB per day. After the quota is exhausted, the users will be charged at 4 paise per 10MB of data. A report by Telecom Talk further states that this plan has been launched in a segmented format which means it is not available for all the users. You can check the availability of this plan on your Idea number by visiting the official website or using the Idea app.
To compare this plan with Reliance Jio, the latter has a prepaid plan priced at Rs 149 that offers 1.5GB of data per day along with 100SMS messages and unlimited voice calling benefits to any network. Interesting, this plan does not come with any FUP limits on voice calls and it also provides a free complimentary subscription to Jio’s App suite. Airtel also recently launched a Rs 159 plan that offers 1GB of daily data along with unlimited voice calls and 100SMS per day without any FUP limits. However, the plan has a shorter validity period of 21 days and is available only to select users like the Idea plan.
