Apple Music Crosses 60 Million Subscribers, Eyeing Spotify’s Crown Now

Apple Music is on a roll, just now it has crossed more than 60 million subscriber base if we include users who are on free trial right now. FYI Apple Music’s rival Spotify has over 100 million active premium subscribers, and they are the current market leader as well. Apple Inc. is trying hard and doing hell lotta things to catch up to the craze of Spotify and seems like they are doing something right for sure.

Eddy Cue, who is the senior vice president of services for the Apple Inc., has disclosed this figure in remarks while addressing to the French media publication Numerama in Paris. This news has been confirmed by a company spokesperson. The funny part is that the Apple executives last disclosed their subscriber numbers in May 2018, when it crossed the milestone of 50 million subscribers.

In April 2019, Spotify informed that it has crossed 100 million “premium” subscribers. Here the word premium is important because Spotify only included users who has entered a payment method either a credit card or a debit card. One thing has to be mentioned here that the free version of Spotify (which comes with ads) has a subscriber base of more than 217 million.

It will be an interesting thing to see how Apple Music performs in the future. It takes nearly 15 months to add 10 million subscribers (from 50M to 60M), and that means it has lots of scope of improvements in the days to come.
