The beta version of Android P, which is going to become the next installment of the Android OS has been rolled out for a slew of smartphones like the OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus and more. While there is no confirmation as of now from Google regarding the official date of the rollout of the stable version of Android P, Finnish smartphone maker Nokia has provided us a hind regarding the availability of the stable version.
As per a report by NokiaPowerUser, a mail sent by Nokia Mobile Care has revealed that the latest range of Nokia smartphones may receive the stable version of Android P starting from August 2018. This tips us to believe that the stable version may be released by late July or early August.
Earlier, HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia devices had claimed that it would provide software support for its range of smartphones for two years. This indicates that all Nokia devices that were launched running on Android Nougat, which later received the Android Oreo update will get the stable version of Android P in August.
Also after announcing the Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and the Nokia 5.1 in May this year, the company had promised that it would roll out the Android P update to its latest range of devices soon. This is a part of the company’s commitment to providing a timely software update to its users.
To recall, the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 7, Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 6.1 had already received the Android P beta update a couple of weeks ago. So it is expected that all these devices will receive the stable version of Android P after it is rolled out by Google.
Meanwhile, some users of the Nokia 7 Plus have reported that they were facing compatibility and performance issues on their handsets after installing the Android P beta update. This is primarily because HMD Global had accidentally seeded the June security patch based on Android Oreo to the Android P beta update. This made the device malfunction and the system to get corrupt. The users had to downgrade to Android Oreo by factory resetting their device to make it usable again.
