Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has introduced its latest handset, the S Plus, priced at $259 USD or Rs. 16,999 exclusively for the Indian market and will be going on sale in the first week of November.
Gionee S Plus Features
The Gionee S Plus sports a USB Type-C port, which is the main selling point of the device at this price range. This smartphone is also the manufacturer’s first handset to be equipped with a Type-C USB port. Gionee S Plus will be available in three colors variants including White, Dark Blue and Golden color. The other highlighting feature of the Gionee S Plus is it comes with a Face Unlock biometric authentication, which will allow the consumers to unlock the phone with face recognition and will open your phone in under a second.
As for the other specifications are concerned, the dual-SIM Gionee S Plus sports a Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 (HD). This latest smartphone from Gionee is installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop that’s skinned with the company’s Amigo 3.1 UI.
Under the hood, Gionee S Plus is driven by an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz CPU along with the Mali-T720 GPU. This handset also houses 3 GB of RAM along with 16GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone also supports dual Micro-SIMs.
In the camera section, Gionee S Plus flaunts a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel fixed focus front-facing camera for taking selfies and video chats.
Gionee S Plus is powered by a 3150mAh battery which offers fast charging features. Apart from 4G LTE connectivity, this handset also comes with Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options.
Timir Baran Acharyya, GM, Gionee India said at the phone’s launch meet, “In today’s fast paced time, the consumer needs and desires are evolving and they don’t want to compromise on the looks nor the specs of the device. Hence to bridge in the gap, we have introduced the all new S Plus especially in India this Diwali to meet all the expectations that our consumers are asking for. In fact, the all new S Plus is equipped with new features like Face Unlock that would help consumers unlock there device in less than a second.”
