With the fast gaining popularity of selfies in today’s world, good front cameras are a huge pre-requisite for smartphone users. Phone companies around the globe have started introducing high-end smartphones with decent front-facing cameras which enhance the art of ‘selfies’ by increasing the megapixel count as well as other requisites which previously used to exist for rear cameras in the copybook smartphones.
Chinese company Gionee last week started sending press invites for an event on August 22 in India where it was expected to reveal a new selfie-focused smartphone. Now, the company in a tweet has pretty much confirmed that the Gionee S6s will be revealed at the event.
Earlier this month, other Chinese OEMs like Oppo and Coolpad have launched selfie-focused smartphones in India, and it looks like Gionee wants to follow the same path. Just to recap, Oppo launched the Oppo F1s for Rs. 17,999, while CoolPad launched the Coolpad Mega 2.5D for as low as Rs. 6,999.
With the S6s coming at a slightly higher price rate, it’s basic highlight will be in the fact that the front-facing camera will have a flash utility which is supposedly put in to enhance selfies in low light conditions.

The phone is rumored to be unveiled by the company on August 22 and is due to hit the markets later this year with end September being a high probability.
The upcoming smartphone will be available in two colors i.e., gold and gray with the price tag of Rs. 17999 ($269).
