Marvel vs Capcom 4 is Slated for Release in 2017

Marvel vs Capcom 4: A new Marvel vs. Capcom game is currently in development, and we will hear something about it as early as later this week, according to reports. The last time we saw a main instalment in the series being released was back in 2011, and it has been quite a while before the ultimate crossover franchise gets a new game. However, it looks like we are pretty close to hearing an announcement about Marvel vs Capcom 4.

According to Polygon, unnamed sources told the publication that an announcement about Marvel vs Capcom 4 is due at this year’s PSX, which is to be held over the weekend. They also added that the game was slated for release sometime in 2017. The report adds that fans should expect to see some major changes in terms of the Marvel character roster set to be included in the upcoming crossover fighting game. While the last game in the series had quite a few prominent playable characters from the X-Men universe like Wolverine, Storm and Magneto, they are not likely to be included in the upcoming instalment. Instead, Marvel vs Capcom 4 will see the inclusion of several characters from the popular present-day Marvel films. So fans can expect to see characters like Ant-Man from the eponymous movie and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. However, no other details about the upcoming game exist at the time being.

But with Marvel vs Capcom 4 coming up in 2017, next year will undoubtedly be a big one for the Japanese developers. January 2017 will see the release of the much-awaited survival-horror title, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which will be the first main instalment in the celebrated series to be playable from a first-person perspective. Capcom has repeatedly stated how the upcoming title will really up the ante in terms of the horror, so we’re getting ready to be spooked out of our skins in VR, no less.

Coming to Marvel vs Capcom 4, the exact date of release is not yet known, so let’s wait for the official announcement. As for the platforms the game could come on, we’re betting on the Xbox One and PS 4.
