Xiaomi Mi 6: Xiaomi may not have been in the smartphone business for as long as the giants, but the technology company out of China has steadily been making its mark with a slew of high-profile and budget releases coming up one after the other. The company already has the Mi 5c, a budget follow-up to the Mi 5 range, lined up for a rumoured December release this year. And now new reports speculate that a new high-end device from the house of Xiaomi may be surfacing as early as the first quarter of 2017. While the Xiaomi Mi 6 was earlier expected to launch sometime during May next year, we are now hearing that the smartphone’s release date is speculated to be in March 2017.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 has long been a subject of thorough speculations among the smartphone fraternity. For starters, it is supposed to be the first smartphone from Xiaomi that will enter the big leagues by debuting in western markets. Besides that, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is rumoured to pack in some enviable specs, and it will be the very first smartphone out of China that will come equipped with the Snapdragon 835 processor- the latest upcoming 10nm chipset from Qualcomm.
The information came to us after GSMArena picked it up from an iSuppli analyst’s Weibo page, but the report notes that the news was not verified by iSuppli itself as it was gleaned from the individual’s personal account. So as things stand now, nothing is confirmed. However, the analyst adds that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will launch at around the time when Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched internationally. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be revealed some time during February to March next year, so the March 2017 release date for the Xiaomi Mi 6 may ultimately hold true.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Rumoured Specifications
A number of rumours are afloat about the Xiaomi Mi 6. The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display with a whopping 4K resolution which will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The upcoming device will also reportedly sport a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent. The powerful Snapdragon 835 processor will be coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Additionally, many sources speculate that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will truly up the game by offering a dual 23 MP camera set up at the back and a retina scan system for added security.
However, our advice is to take all of these with a grain of salt, as nothing has been officially confirmed about the Xiaomi Mi 6 as of now. However, we are certainly looking forward to March 2017 now more than ever.
