Nokia 6 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4: Specs-Only Review Shows The Nokia is Slightly Ahead

The Nokia 6 is the most powerful of all the Nokia phones recently unveiled in India. The other phones launched in the same series are the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5, both of which are mid-segment devices which also have an attractive price tag. The expected price tag of the new Nokia 6 will have a price tag of under Rs 15,000. In this respect, we will find that the main three competitors will be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, and the Vivo V5. Here, we compare the two devices: the Nokia 6 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

The Nokia 6 has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 1.1 GHz octa-core processor. The Redmi Note 4 has a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. The Nokia 6 has a RAM and internal storage combination of 3GB and 32GB while the Redmi Note 4 has a RAM/internal storage combination of 4GB/64GB which is more powerful. Both the devices’ internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB via a dedicated microSD card.

The display too is nearly similar as well. Both the devices have an identical 5.50-inch display which has a resolution of a splendid 1080*1920 pixels. However, the Redmi Note 4 has a higher ppi of 403 compared to 401. This means that this round is a tie.

The Nokia 6 is clearly the better option when it comes to photography. The Nokia 6 has a 16-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel camera at the front for taking selfies and for video calling. Compared to this, the Redmi Note 4 has a lesser sensor rate; however, since the Nokia’s photography features are not known as yet, we will concentrate on the rival. The Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor also with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), along with a f/2.0 aperture, 77-degree wide angle lens, plus a dual-tone LED flash. The front camera also has a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, as well as with an 85-degree wide angle lens. This round is a tie based on current information.

The Nokia 6 will run on the Android Nougat 7.0 while the Redmi Note 4 will run on Android 6.0 overlaid with the MIUI which is a customized skin of the Xiaomi Redmi family.

Based on our specs-only testing, we believe that the Nokia 6 may be a better buy overall.
