If recent reports are to be believed, the new Nokia 8 will arrive with a massive 13MP selfie camera, something which will please even the most demanding of front camera users. We had earlier reported on the Carl Zeiss branding on the device’s rear cameras. Besides, we are already aware of the Nokia 8’s release date, which is pretty near. Now, with the details of the selfie camera, we have a good idea of how good the device will be.
This report by PhoneArena states that the new Nokia 8 will have a monster selfie camera, besides the dual rear cameras, something we have already reported on. This essentially means that the Nokia 8 will be a powerful device for photography purposes as well and many manufacturers, who claim to be either camera or selfie specialists, will be up against a new and serious challenger in the form of Nokia. Incidentally, modern Nokia devices are manufactured by another Finnish concern, HMD Global.
To pick out the best features, the new Nokia device will have two rear camera sensors, each of 13MP: while one will be an RGB sensor, the other one is expected to be a monochromatic sensor. The device will feature Carl Zeiss lenses on the rear, although it is unclear if the Zeiss branding will migrate to the front camera as well.
All of the other aspects of the smartphone have already been leaked. We expect to see the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which will work in tandem with 4GB RAM. On board will be 64GB of native memory. The new Nokia 8 is likely to have a 5.3-inch display panel which will be coated with a protective covering. The 13MP front camera will also be able to shoot 4K videos besides being capable of taking very good quality selfies. We already know of at least one color variant: copper.
