‘Call of Duty: WW2’ Playable Characters Include a Tanker and an RAF Pilot, Besides a Female Soldier

Call of Duty: WW2

Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield has confirmed that the player can now play as a tanker, a pilot, as well as a female resistance fighter, the last part of which we had already informed you on. This means that the brutality of the war can now be experienced first hand from multiple angles, and it will be interesting to see what the developers have in store for us. The first ‘Call of Duty: WW2’ trailer was explosively brilliant.

The first trailer of the game showed exclusive focus on the American soldiers of the US First Infantry Division: this is the division which has experienced the war right from the bloody beaches of Normandy with the scenery shifting constantly to other battlefields across Europe. Schofield has confirmed that the primary character will be Private Ronald “Red” Daniels of the Big Red One. However, that will not be the only main character of the game.

Schofield was quoted by PCGamer as saying, “You won’t play as a German in the single player, but you do play as other Allies. You play as a female French resistance soldier, as an RAF pilot, and as a tank commander. But it all comes back to Ronald ‘Red’ Daniels. He’s a kid from Texas and it’s a story about him and his brother. They basically walk through France, with 60 pounds on their back, a 10-pound weapon, and lousy equipment. You’ll liberate Paris, but then it goes to hell again. We show the euphoria and then the letdown.”

Besides focusing on the gameplay, the focus will also be on one important aspect: that of historical accuracy. Apparently, the developers realize that any mistake in the setting will set off a chain reaction of negative thoughts from WW2 followers. Schofield referred to his conversations with historian/consultant Marty Morgan regarding a train wreck which plays a major role in the game.

Also, the players will be able to distinguish between Germans and Nazis, an important distinction. ‘Call of Duty: WW2‘ will release on November 3. A multiplayer beta version is expected to hit PCs around the world on September 29.
