It is now official. The Huawei Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro are set to launch on October 16, as we had predicted. We had also reported that there would indeed be a Pro variant of the Huawei Mate 10, which would be t he more premium variant of the same device. Since the October launch date is now official, we believe that this device will be a direct competitor to the likes of the Apple iPhone 8, or the iPhone X as it is set to be known, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Underneath the surface of the Huawei Mate 10 is the spectacular new HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor, which is capable enough of taking on even the mightiest of processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. At the ongoing IFA 2017 in Berlin, which is one of the world’s largest technological fairs, the Kirin 970 processor was showcased, showing off its neural network processing unit.
It was also announced that the new range of Mate 10 devices would feature the Kirin 970 chipset and would launch on October 16. Notably, the Huawei Mate 9 devices, the immediate predecessors, had launched in November last year. Interestingly, the Huawei Mate 9’s prices have recently been slashed in order to allow better sales of the Mate 10.
Huawei‘s CEO Richard Yu has stated that the new Huawei Mate 10 will come with a full-screen display, as well as better cameras. It will also support fast charging. Judging by the teaser which we saw released by Huawei Australia, the Mate 10 will have dual rear cameras armed with Leica lenses. Of these two cameras, one will have an RGB sensor while another will have a Monochrome sensor. This is the same configuration as the Mate 9 released last year.
With such specs aboard, including the QHD display instead of the FHD display, we expect that the new Huawei Mate 10 will rival the best offerings currently available in the market.
