Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus Goes on Sale in China

Xiaomi has been one of the most promising smartphone manufacturers ever since it debuted in the tech industry. With Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus launch, it appears that the popularity of Xiaomi will even increase. The recent report surfaced on the internet is concerning both Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus devices which are expected to go on sale in the Chinese markets today, i.e. December 12 from 10 AM.

The initial sale begins today and as per availability, the smartphones will be available via the retailers such as Jingdong Mall, Suning Tesco, Xiaomi Mall, and Lynx. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus devices come with full metallic design bodies and will be available in four color variants- Rose Gold, Black, Blue, and Gold.

Talking of the Redmi 5, it features a 5.7-inch HD+ display alongside a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Underneath, the phone powers an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM and a native storage of 32GB capacity.

On the optics front, the phone reportedly features a 12-megapixel rear camera sensor alongside  f/2.2 aperture, 1.25 µm pixel size, and Soft-LED flash. The Redmi 5 is equipped with PDA (phase detection auto-focus), facial recognition, Panorama, Burst mode, and dark light enhancement technology. Up front, the device is equipped with a 5-megapixel selfie snapper which has features like full HD video recording at 30 fps, facial recognition, and so on.

The Redmi 5 Plus boasts a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of  2160 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, it houses the same processor alike to its base model. The phone comes in two memory variants, while one comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, the other features a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. On the optics front, the device comes with same features like that of Redmi 5.

As per pricing, while the Redmi 5 with 2GB RAM comes with a price tag of 799 Yuan (approximately $120), the 3GB RAM is priced at 899 Yuan (approximately $135). On contrary, while Xiaomi‘s Redmi 5 Plus 3GB RAM model comes with a price tag of 999 Yuan (approximately $151), the other variant with 4GB of RAM will cost 1,299 Yuan (approximately $196).
