Apple 2018 iPhone Range Will Only Have One OLED Version With a 6.5-inch Display

Apple had hit gold, literally, as the 2017 iPhone range was released with the iPhone X, notwithstanding its prohibitive price, has sold quite well. Last year, the iPhones were all about OLED displays. Now, it seems that Apple will only have one OLED variant this year alongside two LCD models. Previously, we had reported how Apple was planning to make two OLED variants along with a cheaper model with an LCD display.

While the cheaper LCD model will be present, it now seems that the Apple iPhone OLED models will not be two but only one. The latest report comes from DigiTimes and you can read it here. DigiTimes Research’s senior analyst Luke Lin has claimed that the OLED variant will have a giant 6.5-inch screen.

The analyst also has some extra news for the reader. Apparently, the Cupertino-based giant is currently working on no less than four next-gen iPhone models. One will be a 5.7 to 5.8-inch LCD model while one is set to be a 6.0 to 6.1-inch LCD model. On the other hand, there are two OLED models, with one being a 6.0 to 6.1-inch model as well as a 6.4 to 6.5-inch model. To avoid confusion, we must tell you that the company may launch only the larger OLED iPhone this year, besides the LCD models.

This essentially means that this year’s iPhone setup will number the same as it did last year.

Luke Lin has also claimed that initially, the Apple company had set out to manufacture two different OLED models. What changed its mind is unknown at the moment. That said, DigiTimes has also claimed that the company may very well end up manufacturing two OLED display models and two LC models as well.

Incidentally, Apple is also working on an inexpensive Apple iPhone SE 2, set to have wireless charging and which may crop up at the WWDC 2018.
