The Asus ZenFone 3 will soon start receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. This is not the first time that such a news has come to the forefront; we had reported in early December last year how the device was set to receive the Android Oreo update. Now, the company has confirmed that the device will indeed be updated to the newer version of the OS.
Most manufacturers are nowadays busy providing the Oreo updates to its most modern products. However, it now seems that Asus is not yet abandoning its 2016 lineup as the ZenFone 3 is getting the update as well. Incidentally, both the two models of the Asus ZenFone 3, the ZE552KL, as well as the ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL) will receive the update. As the reports suggest, this software package is around 1.5GB in size. With this upgrade, all the users of the ZenFone 3 will be able to enjoy all the rich goodies that the Android Oreo OS offers.
The latest update will add the Swipe up to All apps gesture, something that is rather similar to what we saw in the Oreo default app launcher. The system update will also now offer a friendlier UI design as far as the Settings menu is concerned, Asus says. The brand also removes some previously unused apps including the likes of Minimove, Photocollage and also Do It Later. Alongside the update will also be the December security patch as well.
Once the Oreo update is updated, the newest features will be onboard the Asus ZenFone 3 update. The smartphones will also bring to the fore the picture-in-picture mode; this allows the users to perform two tasks simultaneously. You can now minimize a YouTube video while, at the same time, you can also send a text message or even draft and then send an email. The Android Oreo has other great features including Background limits, the installation of apps via APK, over 60 great and newly developed emojis, notification dots, and a Wide-gamut color palette for apps. The Asus ZenFone 3 will also get the WebView enhancements among other features.
