Reliance Jio has extended its JioFi family with the launch of a new JioFi 4G LTE Hotspot in India. The new device with model number JMR815 can support download speeds up to 150Mbps and upload speeds up to 50Mbps. The JioFi hotspot is available for purchase exclusively through e-commerce portal Flipkart and comes with a price tag of Rs 999.
The device also carries a “Designed in India” tag to persuade prospective buyers. The new device is circular in shape, unlike the previous JioFi dongle that was egg-shaped. It also features physical buttons of power on/off and WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). Apart from that it also sports notification lights for battery, Wi-Fi, and 4G signal strengths. The new dongle allows up to 32 users to connect to a 4G data network with 31 through Wi-Fi and 1 on USB.
The Reliance JioFi 4G Hotspot also supports HD voice and video calling through Jio 4G voice app on smartphones. Talking about the specifications, it is powered by an ALT800 processor and supports FDD-Band 3 and Band 5 and TDD-Band 40. The device is fueled by a massive 3,000 mAh battery under the hood that has a charging time of 3.5 hours. It is a major improvement from the earlier version of the JioFi hotspot which carried a 2,300 mAh battery. Apart from that, it also carries a micro-SD card slot that can support up to 64GB of storage.
To recall, this announced about the new JioFi device comes days after Reliance Jio launched a new Rs 1,999 offer for JioFi users. Under this offer, it offers free data and voucher benefits that is worth Rs 3,595. To be precise, Reliance Jio brought the JioFi device at Rs 1,999 with bundled data that is worth Rs 1,295 and complimentary vouchers that is worth Rs 2,300 from AJIO, Reliance Digital and Paytm. The company also offered the JioFi device at Rs 999 only without the bundled data and voucher offers.
