Twitter Banned Multiple Accounts for Stealing Jokes and Tweets from Others

To avoid all the ‘tweetdeckers’, the popular microblogging site, Twitter has banned multiple accounts in order to stop stealing of tweets. Reports indicate that there were multiple Twitter accounts which were popular at the same time which shared hundreds of thousands of tweets by stealing tweets from other accounts. According to reports, the accounts were used to conspire as groups to share tweets and force them going viral.

Twitter Blocks Accounts for Selling Tweets from Other People

These tweets added their own and those of anyone who could pay, reports indicate. Tweetdecking is using services like Tweetdeck in order to organize mass sharing. This behavior is indeed a violation of the policies given by Twitter. As per this, users cannot use services for the purpose of spamming. The offending accounts furthermore also accept money for tweets, besides other violations of policy. Suspended accounts reportedly include @Dory, @teenagernotes, @SoDamnTrue, @reiatabie, @GirlPosts, @commonwhitegiri, @memeprovide, @finah, and @holyfag.

In the month of February, Twitter was seen banning accounts such as Deepfakes, which uses a machine learning algorithm in order to post fake porn videos of the celebrities. This, however, was a violation of the terms and conditions that are applied while using the platform. As per Twitter’s terms, it stated that “you may not post or share intimate photos or videos of someone that were produced or distributed without their consent“. Twitter nevertheless won’t block or ban world leaders from using this particular service, however.

Recently, following the trend of Snapchat and Facebook, Twitter added the new bookmark feature which enables users to save a tweet for ready reference later. Shah said, ” We tweeted ongoing updates as we built Bookmarks so we could incorporate your input as we worked. By working this way, we learned that you like to save replies so you can answer later and that you may share Tweet hours or days later after you’ve bookmarked it.”
