Apple Releases iOS 11 .4 Update with Messages in iCloud, AirPlay 2 Support and More

Apple has released the stable version of iOS 11.4 for eligible iPhones and iPads with a number of new features. The latest update brings AirPlay 2 support that was announced at the WWDC 2017 held in June last year and was expected to be rolled out with the iOS 11 in September 2017. The AirPlay 2 feature brings multi-audio support and stereo pairing capabilities with HomePod and AppleTV devices. The iOS 11.4 update also brings the ability to store messages on iCloud saving the phone’s memory along with a bunch of new improvements and bug fixes.

The iOS 11.4 update can be download on iPhone 5S and above, iPad Air and above and iPad Mini 2 and above models. Users can check for the update by diving to Settings> General> Software Update. However, a reliance WiFi connection is necessary to progress with the download and it is also recommended to take a backup of all the data on the device to avoid accidental loss.

The new AirPlay 2 feature will enable users to pair their iPhones or iPads with HomePod or AppleTV devices seamlessly. The advanced pairing feature can also sense the location of HomePod in your room and can adjust the sound accordingly.

Apart from the AirPlay 2 feature, the update also brings the ability to store messages on iCloud. This feature will save a lot of storage space on the device. Apart from that, all the messages, photos or attachments stored on iCloud will be visible on a new device as well when logged in with the same iMessage account.

The latest update also brings an upgraded Siri. After the installation of the update, users will be able to use Siri on HomePod to send a message, add a new note, check for calendar appointments and more. Apple has also claimed that Siri is now being used in over half a billion devices throughout the world and can clearly understand the personal preferences and tastes of the users.

The update also brings a bunch of bug fixes, most notably the Black Dot bug that was crashing iPhones globally.
