Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Case Leaked Indicating the Presence of a Bigger Iris Scanner

The Galaxy Note 9 may have the fingerprint scanner on the front from next year

South Korean tech giant Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 9 phablet soon. As the launch is approaching closer, more and more leaks are surfacing to reveal the specifications and the design elements of the smartphone. A new video has now appeared that shows a screen guard of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 indicating the presence of a larger iris scanner than its predecessor.

The new scanner may be an upgraded version of the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. This also indicates that Samsung has not changed the basic design of the upcoming device and still features an iris scanner as an authenticating mechanism.

The company is also claimed to be working with an Isreali company Mantis Vision to build a 3D camera system. The new technology once introduced is expected to challenge Apple’s in-depth sensing camera setup on iPhones. However, the 3D camera tech is expected to be rolled out with the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ next year.

The delay in the arrival of this technology could be because Samsung wants to develop a solution that does not require the notch on the front display panel. Considering the issues with the notch feature that users have reported since the last few months, Samsung does not want to embrace the notch feature in its upcoming flagship devices.

Cutouts of an LED indicator, ambient light sensor, earpiece and a single selfie camera can be all clearly seen on the video. A new report from a Chinese source has also claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 may arrive in an 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage variant along with the regular variants. However, the report may turn out to be false as it does not come from an official source.

The base variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the USA and Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 in other countries. It may arrive with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage.
