Samsung had launched four new mid-range smartphones in India in May. The four devices include Samsung Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8, Galaxy A6 and the Galaxy A6+. All these devices feature an Infinity Display screen similar to the flagship Galaxy S series and become the first range of mid-range devices to feature such large screens. The company had also launched the Galaxy On6 as an online exclusive model in the country which is speculated to be a rebranded version of the Samsung Galaxy J6.
Now some new information has emerged courtesy of XDA Developers that claim that the Samsung Galaxy J6+ could now be launched in the country. The report states that it could launch as the Samsung Galaxy On6+ in India. The report also cites some firmware files for a Samsung device with codename “j6plte”.
It is expected that the smartphone will be named Samsung Galaxy J6+ and will be launched in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) nations along with Serbia. However, since the company has already rebranded the Galaxy J series devices as Galaxy On handsets in India, the Samsung Galaxy J6+ is expected to be launched as Samsung Galaxy On6+.
Talking about the specifications of the Galaxy J6+, it is going to be a premium variant of the Samsung Galaxy J6. The leaked firmware files indicate that the device may arrive with a 5.6-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1480 X 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9.
The device is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450SoC instead of Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7870 SoC that featured on the Galaxy J6. Any other specification details are not available at the moment but we are expecting more leaks to surface soon to reveal more information.
The firmware files also indicate that the device will launch with TFA9896 audio amplifier support, NFC, and a fingerprint reader. It is also likely to include a micro-SD card slot and run on Android Oreo out of the box.
