After launching the 2018 MacBook Pro lineup of devices, Apple is rumored to be working on a new cheaper MacBook model. A report has claimed that the Cupertino based conglomerate may launch a new laptop alongside its new iPhone and iPad models in September this year. Additionally, the company is also expected to announce the availability of its new AirPower wireless charger at the launch event.
As per a report by DigiTimes, Apple is likely to equip the upcoming laptop range with Intel’s 14nm Kaby lake processors instead of the newer 10nm Intel canon Lake chips. The report also claims that the price of the new laptop will be $1200 (Rs 84,000 approximately).
The report states “The 13-inch inexpensive MacBook was originally set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2017, but has been delayed due to Intel’s issues with its 10nm manufacturing process. With Intel deciding to wait until the second half of 2019 to begin manufacturing 10nm CPUs, Apple has switched the MacBook design to adopt processors based on improved 14nm Kaby Lake architecture.”
Coming to the new iPhone models, the company is expected to launch three new iPhone models by the end of this year. The list includes a less expensive 6.1-inch LCD model, a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, and a premium 6.5-inch OLED iPhone model that is set to become the costliest offering from Apple. Although the price of these devices is yet to be confirmed, an earlier report had claimed that it will not cross the $1000 mark. Alongside the iPhone models, the company is also expected to announce the availability of the wireless charger which was first showcased at the iPhone X launch. The charger is likely to be priced between $161 and $193 (Rs 11,300 to Rs 13,470).
Apple is also expected to announce four new iPad models in Q4 2018. Of the four models, there could be two iPad Pro models; one with a 12.9-inch display and another with a larger 11-inch screen. The latter is set to replace the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro model. Apart from these, there will be an entry-level 9.7-inch iPad and another smaller 7.9-inch iPad Mini 4. The new Ipad Pro models will support fast charging with an 18W power adapter and a USB Type-C port.
