After the massive popularity of Fallout 4, game developer Bethesda has decided to release a prequel of Fallout 4 titled Fallout 76. The latter is an online multiplayer action role-playing game and is very similar to Fallout 4. While we all know that the game is set for release worldwide on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Bethesda has now announced the release date of its beta version. Fallout 76 beta will release on October 23 and it will arrive first on the Xbox One. Since the company has a long-standing relationship with Microsoft, the beta version will be released on the Xbox One platform first followed by PS4 and Windows PC on October 30.
The FAQ page of Fallout 76 reads, “The beta will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and on PC (via Bethesda.net). Stay tuned for exact timing for each platform here and Fallout on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please note that the beta for Xbox One will begin first, followed by other platforms.”
It is interesting to note that the beta release of this game is going to be a bit different from the rest. Unlike other beta releases where a demo version of the game is released as a beta to give us a clear view of what to expect from the game, Bethesda seems to be following a different strategy for Fallout 76. The developer said that the beta will not be available at all times. “Servers will not be live 24/7 as the team works to troubleshoot issues, stress the servers, and optimize player concurrency,” a post from Bethesda reads. This indicates that the company will be releasing the beta version to gain feedback from the players and simultaneously work on any issues that may creep up before the game is officially released on November 14.
Another aspect of the game that is different from the rest is that fact that it will not support cross-platform gaming. “We would have loved [cross-platform] with Fallout 76 but right now we can’t. But Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like, but we’ll see what happens in the future.” said Todd Howard, Game Director of Fallout 76 in an interview to Gamestar.de.
