Nokia 5.1 Plus to Launch in India on September 24 Exclusively via Flipkart

HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia smartphones had launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India in mid-August. At the launch event, the company had announced that the Nokia 5.1 Plus will start shipping in the country by the end of September 2018. Now, it seems to have kept its word as the Nokia 5.1 Plus is ready to go on sale next week in the country.

Importantly, HMD Global recently posted a teaser on social media that hinted at a Nokia gaming smartphone. But now, the tweet has been deleted by the company and it seems that it has some other plans for the alleged gaming device. Meanwhile, India’s largest ecommerce retail site Flipkart has also posted a teaser page on its site that sheds some light on the launch date of the Nokia 5.1 Plus.

As per the teaser page, the price of the Nokia 5.1 Plus is scheduled to be revealed on September 24 at 2 pm IST and it also states that the smartphone will be exclusively available via Flipkart in the country. As per speculations, the Nokia 5.1 Plus could be priced below Rs 15,000 and some of the specifications have also been listed on the teaser page.

To recall the specifications, the Nokia 5.1 Plus features a glass body with a plastic frame and a metal sandwich design. It also sports a notched display like the one found on the Apple iPhone X. It features a 5.8-inch full HD+ notch display with a resolution of 1520 X 720 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio.

It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with Mali G72 GPU and coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage space.  On the optics front, it features a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 13-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it features an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies. It will be powered by a 3,060mAh battery and will run on stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
