OnePlus 6T Transparent Leaked Cases Indicate the Absence of 3.5mm Headphone Connector

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will no longer feature the 3.5mm headphone connector. This is the main reason behind the launch of Type-C bullets earphones alongside the OnePlus 6T flagship device in October. Now some transparent TPU cases of the OnePlus 6T has surfaced online and it indicates that the smartphone will not arrive with the 3.5mm headphone jack.

To recall, the OnePlus 6 was launched earlier in the year with the 3.5mm headphone connector on the lower edge of the smartphone. However, it now seems that the OnePlus 6 was the last device to feature this connector. Leaked images of the upcoming OnePlus 6T show that the smartphone does not feature a 3.5mm headphone connector on the lower edge. Instead, it houses dual speakers along with a USB Type-C port on the lower edge.

The leaked images also reveal that the OnePlus 6T does not feature a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. This indicates that the device may arrive with an in-display fingerprint scanner and compete against the likes of Oppo and Vivo smartphones which have already implemented this new technology.

The cutouts on the rear panel indicate the presence of a vertically arranged dual camera setup on the rear panel with an additional cutout for an LED flash. This specification comes in line with its predecessor which also featured a dual rear camera setup.

The right edge of the OnePlus 6T TPU cases shows cutouts for the Alert Slider and the Power button. The volume rocker key has been placed on the left edge of the device.

Earlier reports have claimed that the OnePLus 6T will arrive with a waterdrop notch type display. While information about the specifications of the smartphone is scarce at the moment, it is expected that the smartphone will arrive with similar specifications to its predecessor, the OnePlus 6.

The smartphone may feature an AMOLED display and may be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC coupled with at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is expected to get unveiled on October 17.
