South Korean tech giant Samsung has started rolling out a new update for its flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ devices. The new update brings the Android Security patch for the month of September to both the devices. It may be recalled that Samsung recently rolled out a new update for the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9 flagship devices. While the Galaxy Note 8 received some new features like slow motion video recording and AR emoji support, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have received only the Android Security patch as of now.
The latest update brings a host of improvements and bug fixes for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The update comes with firmware version number G960FXXS2BRl1 for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and version number G965FXXS2BRl1 for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. Notably, Samsung has been always been very active, when it comes to releasing the latest software and security updates for its flagship devices.
Talking about the availability of the update, Samsung has started rolling out the update in a number of European countries and it is expected that it is going to be made available in other countries of the globe in the form of an OTA update soon. Users can manually check for the update on their Samsung Galaxy S9 and galaxy S9+ by heading to Settings> Software Update> Download Updates Manually.
To recall the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by an Exynos 9810 octa-core SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. On the optics front, the device features a 12-megapixel sensor on the rear panel accompanied by an LED flash. On the front, it sports an 8-megapixel sensor for taking selfies and video callings. It is available in two storage variants of 64GB and 256GB which can be further upgraded with the help of a micro-SD card up to a maximum of 400GB.
