Apple has launched a new MacBook Air at the launch event held in New York City yesterday. This is the first time in 8 years that Apple has launched a new model in the MacBook Air series and it comes with some new features. One of the major highlights of this new model is the Retina display which was long anticipated. Another highlight of the MacBook Air 2018 is the Touch ID which is enabled by the T2 chip.
Talking about the price, the base variant of the MacBook Air 2018 features 8GB of 2133MHz, Intel Core i5 processor with Intel UHD graphics 617 and a 128GB SSD drive. It comes with a price tag of $1,199 and will be up for pre-orders from today. It will be available for purchase in the US from November 7, 2018. In India, the device has been priced at Rs 1,14,900 and will be available for purchase from November 7.
The MacBook Air 2018 will be available in Gold, Silver, and Space Grey color variants. A 256GB variant has also been detailed by Apple and it comes with a price tag of $1,399. The price in India is yet to be announced by the company.
Coming to the specifications, the MacBook Air 2018 features a 13.3-inch Retina display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This gives the display 48% more color and the bezels on the sides are also 50% narrower than the ones found on its previous iteration.
Apple has also provided louder stereo speakers with more bass than before and it features a three mic array. There are two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports on the left side if the MacBook Air 2018 model which will provide connectivity options like USB, Thunderbolt, VGA, HDMI and display port.
There is also a 720p HD FaceTime camera on the front side with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity options on the MacBook Air 2018 include WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.2. It is powered by a 50.3Wh battery which can provide 12 hours of wireless internet browsing, 13 hours of movie playback via iTunes and 30 days of standby time.
